My Trip to Cape Town, South Africa

I arrived in Cape Town on the 25.4.2021. It was very warm! On the following day, I had my first school day in the International EF School and I was a little bit afraid of going to school because I didn’t know anybody!

But then, before long, I found new friends from all of the world and I was very happy about it! All my friends had already gained experience in the working world.

The following weeks were very cool, I did a lot of things like surfing, beach days with sunsets, parties, sightseeing, hiking, and a lot more!
After three weeks we started planning a big trip for four days. I did the trip with eight other friends and it was so amazing! The first stop was at the Tsitsikamma National Park and it was very beautiful! Then we drove to our Airbnb in Knysna, a little town four hours away from Cape Town. On the following day we
visited an elephant park near
Knysna, the experience with the elephants was enriching and amazing.

After that we went to Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, which was incredible! We took part in a guided safari, we saw the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and it was breathtaking! Then we went back home because of school. In the following weeks that I spent in Cape Town, I signed up for a lot of EF activities like paragliding or visiting the Two Oceans Aquarium.

My school in Cape Town

I told you on the day I arrived I was very nervous to go to school because I knew nobody. But all the people were friendly and I was very happy.
Five days a week I had six school lessons per day, just like in Germany. My teacher had been teaching at Oxford University for three years before he came to my school and he was a really good teacher.

At school I had English, Grammar, South African History (including Geography), Vocabulary, Conversation and Listening, and Speaking. Every 3 weeks we took a level test to see whether we could move up, move back, or stay. At the end of our school time we had a big graduation test and we got a certificate about our school time and our graduation test.

So now I am at the end of my trip and I would like to stay here. I can say that I have friends all over the world now because of my stay in
Cape Town. I have contacts in Russia, France, Italy, Brazil, Ecuador, and Japan! In conclusion, I can also say the time I spent in Cape Town and South Africa has shaped me, and I think it has changed me for the better.
